SAS surveyors conduct a comprehensive survey to ascertain the physical condition of the vessel and the effectiveness of the onboard management. If deficiencies are found, the surveyor will provide the Master and/or owners’ representative with a list of items in need of rectification to maintain and improve the ship’s standard.
We inspect the general condition of the vessel, other particular areas of importance as requested as well as the validity of the main vessel’s certificates and quantity of consumable on board such as Fuel Oil, Lubricating Oil etc. Then proceeding to record relevant information to produce a report of the vessel condition upon delivery/redelivery. By having an impartial and professional report of the vessel’s condition, the parties involved with a charter have an impartial point of reference in the event of any later dispute.
We inspect and ascertain the condition of all types of general cargo and bulk cargo prior to loading on to the carrying vessel. Cargo inspected for a pre-loading survey will typically include: steel, cargo in wooden crates, vehicles, machinery, etc., and also dry and wet bulk cargo. We survey the stowage and securing of loaded cargo including irregular cargo on flat-rack containers and dangerous or hazardous goods inside containers and project cargo.
We undertake all types of marine bunker surveys. We then determine the precise quantity of bunker fuel. All bunker tanks are carefully sounded by our experienced team. Our team is experienced in conducting bunker delivery surveys during supply of bunkers in port in order to verify delivery of the requested quantity.
SAS provides inspection for Protection and Indemnity needs. We carefully examine the vessel for the seaworthiness, water tightness, condition of pipes and fittings, condition of equipment and machinery, and the ship crews’ competency to cover the liability claims, as well as ensure that compliances like ISM procedures, SOLAS and MARPOL are met to swiftly claim the insurance amount.
Our scope of services encompasses P&I entry / annual condition surveys, bunker quality / quantity claims, occupational accidents, accident and incident investigation including collisions with other ships or fixed / floating installations, quantity differences, blocking of cargo due to wrong carrying temperature, contaminations of liquid cargoes (‘off-spec’), Cargo Survey, Cargo Hatch Cover Survey and ultrasonic tests, cargo contamination with previous cargoes, sea- or ballast / bilge- water, and oil from ship’s hydraulic system, wetting damage due to ingress of water/ non-weathertight hatch cover and all kinds of MARPOL violations such as oil spills
SAS provides H&M condition surveys and JH2013 audits with specific requirements by the Underwriter. We shall do damage surveys and also ship repair surveys as instructed by the Underwriter. We offer Collision-investigations, Grounding-investigations, Fire investigations, Heavy weather evaluations, Surveys of damaged machinery equipment.
